A Monster Of Our Own Making
As a child, I was always grotesquely enamored by the cautionary tale of Frankenstein. I remember thinking how disgusting and maniacal Dr. Frankenstein was to think that he could take mismatched parts, sew them together, add electricity and that life would result. No rational person would give serious consideration to conducting such an experiment, right?
Unfortunately the leadership of the Massachusetts Department of Education must have skipped over Shelley in their reading list. In an effort to create a genderless educational atmosphere, the MDOE have made lab experiments of the elementary aged children of their state. A recent MDOE Memo stipulates the following measures regarding the accommodation of transgender students:
- transgender students must be allowed to use the restroom of their choice
- transgender students must be allowed to play on sports teams that correspond to their chosen gender identity
- gender based clothing, and other gender specific activities must be eliminated or curtailed
- non-transgender students must affirm or support their transgendered classmates or face disciplinary action
The MDOE memo holds that any student who feels that their “assigned” gender does not match their “internalized sense of gender” should have the right to chose their gender preference and have that preference recognized. Later in the memo it also stipulates that the students themselves are the only ones who should have the right to determine their gender identity and that school personnel should not discuss such matters with parents without talking to the students first. This memo and the state law which it seeks to implement reflect a kind of social experimentation unprecedented in the history of our nation.
Any rational person must see how this is inherently dangerous and morally reprehensible. Our children have enough sexual confusion forced upon them without lawmakers adding to the fray with such Frankenstein-like legislation. Of course there will be lawsuits on both sides of the discussion. Responsible parents rightly fear that this environment will create a hardship for their children and who can blame them? Nobody wants their daughter to be subjected to transgender boys using girls locker rooms because it better fits their “internalized sense of gender”? No matter what kind of gender neutral life that these lawmakers and educators think they are creating, in the end it will end up a monster that turns on them and our society as a whole.
You can deceive a child into thinking that gender is “assigned” but in their hearts both the children and the adults know that gender is created:
For you formed my inward parts; you knitted me together in my mother’s womb. I praise you, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made. Wonderful are your works; my soul knows it very well. My frame was not hidden from you, when I was being made in secret, intricately woven in the depths of the earth. Your eyes saw my unformed substance; in your book were written, every one of them, the days that were formed for me, when as yet there was none of them.
– Psalm 139:13-16
