Learning Objectives

The new Treasuring Christ scope and sequence is primarily focused on teaching children and students the narrative of the gospel as it unfolds from Genesis to Revelation. Having studied Treasuring Christ, your children and students should be able to:

  • Understand that God created all things perfect and for His glory – Genesis 1:31
  • Understand that mankind chose to trust themselves instead of trusting God – Genesis 3:1-13
  • Understand that God promised a deliverer who would crush the serpent, and one day restore creation to perfection – Genesis 3:15
  • Understand that Jesus Christ was the promised deliverer who defeated Satan, and delivers mankind from bondage to sin – Hebrews 2:14-15

These four objectives are the broad or overarching objectives that will be taught every quarter of every year of the curriculum

Each year of the new scope and sequence also has a learning objective that is specific to that section of scripture:

Year One (The Pentateuch) – The promised redeemer is not Noah, Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, or Moses but God promised these men that He would come from their descendants. – Genesis 12:1-3

Year Two (The Prophets and Writings) – The promised deliverer will not establish an earthly kingdom right away but will come and establish his rule in the hearts of those whom He calls. – Zechariah 9:9

Year Three (The Gospels) – Jesus Christ is the promised deliverer whose sinless life, death on the cross, and resurrection from the tomb provide the means for the redemption of mankind and the renewal of creation. – John 14:6

Year Four (The Epistles) – Only faith in Christ and what He has done can transform the heart and mind and prepare us to live forever in His recreated and perfectly made new heaven and earth. – Philippians 3:17-21
